The Azueros peninsula truly deserves its title “The Tuna Coast,” with unbelievable sport fishing in the Las Tablas area. Fish off the Las Tablas coast throughout the year. The best fishing is during the rainy season between May and December, but the “dry season” fishing the rest of the year is also quite good.

Pay a visit to Isla Cañas, which is just past Playa Venao, and check out the marine turtle nesting site. At night, the intrepid pregnant mama turtles crawl up the 13 kilometer long beach of this island to lay their brood of up to one hundred eggs.
Hike through unspoiled jungle and see the lovely waterfalls, as well as plenty of birds, monkeys and other tropical fauna in the Cerro Hoya National Park. Created in 1985, this park stretches for 80,000 acres on the Azuero peninsula’s southern tip.
